Not much to write today, we had a slow week. It was way awesome, but we got sick and had to go to the doctors for Mckenzie Shimai, so a lot of waiting around this week. They still don't know what is going on with her feet, so we will be going to a university hospital for them to check it out. Tuesday we did have zone conference which was so fun. I love Egan Kaicho and Shimai. They are such good people! We learned so much and I'm so grateful for people who put so much time and energy into teaching us. It's such a wonderful opportunity. I also hit my 1 year in Japan this week! Which is just crazy!! How did that happen?! Anyway, on a spiritual side I have been reading in 3rd Nephi recently, and I just love when Jesus Christ comes to the Americas. In 3rd Nephi 17 Jesus christ tells the people to go and ponder the words he has said and is about to leave, but when he sees the Nephites longing for him to stay, he stays and blesses and heals, basically everyone. He also prays to Heavenly Father for them and some of my favorite verses are 3 Nephi 17:16-17 16 And after this manner do they bear record: The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father; 17 And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father. I can't imagine how much joy they had in their hearts. Jesus had so much compassion on them and because of his service and love toward them, they were filled with so much joy. Jesus Christ is so powerful. He is the perfect example of service, and love, and devotion to our Heavenly Father. That is why we follow Him. He has showed us the perfect way to thank our Father and to become like Him. Jesus Christ has done everything for the world. He is the perfect older brother. It's so amazing. I love him so much! Anyway I hope you all have a good week! Love you!! Jesus loves you too!!
Hello! It's been kind of a long week haha. Because we had p day on Saturday there wasn't a lot of time this week to get things done that needed to get done so we have been running around all week! But it was good :) Monday- we talked to this lady for almost an hour about the summer festivals and how cool they are here. She was so cute and gave us bananas and fans and yogurt drinks. I love old ladies, they are so cute and so funny to talk to. Tuesday- we went over to a members house that basically had an American house. It had carpet!! I was obsessed, and I will attach a video that I took there. The member is also the sweetest. I know I've said this before, but there is literally nothing better than spending time and getting to know the members. They are all so amazing! Lots of other things happened randomly too. We saw a little car crash, we bumped into an eikaiwa students mom and she bought us sweet potato ice cream (not her fault, we chose it thinking it was some kind of pie...) and Mckenzie Shimai locked me in a gate with a huge dog!! We were housing and opened a gate to walk inside when we hear this dog bark- no big deal, lots of dogs in Japan. They're always inside and their always tiny dogs. So I keep going (I'm in the front) when this huge dog comes running around the corner of the house toward me, barking his head off! So naturally I scream and back up to try and get out of the gate when I see that Mckenzie Shimai closed the gate on me!! Haha I yanked it open and got out before the dog got me though. So much for companions having your back huh? (Just kidding, she is actually the best haha I haven't let her live it down since) Wednesday- so many new people came to eikaiwa today and we had a blast exploring this old Buddhist shrine we found while we were dendoing. We also ate crepes. Thursday- while trying to find a less active's house, an old lady called us over to talk to her. She asked us ten times where we were going, where we were from, and where we were living. Haha she couldn't remember anything but we talked to her for a while cuz she seemed lonely, and she also was just the sweetest thing ever. She told us how her son helps her because she's old, and how her husband passed away recently. Sometimes it's amazing to just have the opportunity to hear about people's lives. People are amazing. Friday- we found bugs in our apartment. We deep cleaned and threw out a ton of stuff. We also had a way fun kids eikaiwa today. Saturday- We decided to bike up to a really far part of our area on Saturday however, half way through biking up this huge mountain, it started to downpour. Usually it wouldn't stop us, but it was literally like someone dumped a water tank on our heads, and it was thundering and lightning like crazy! So we decided to head back for dinner a little early to change and get our rain suits, but then we found a huge puddle, and naturally we had to jump in it.. So we spent some of our dinner time playing in the rain. Then by the time we changed and ate dinner it was absolutely beautiful outside! So we started dendoing and we hear these drums and music near where we were and we found a natsu matsuri!! A summer festival. We walked up to see what was going on and we see these really old ladies playing these huge drums like a boss, and then there was a whole bunch of dancing and people came up to us and gave us sweat towels and fans haha. It was so fun! We just watched them, as they all watched us because we stuck out so much. The matsuri was in this huge Buddhist shrine haha, so we were these random Christian foreigners that were just hanging out in a shrine. It was so much fun to watch. Sunday- not too much happened, a sister in my apartment got sick and they had a pretty big lesson planned for an investigator, and so we went on splits so one person of the companionship could go and I stayed with her in the apartment.
Anyway, that was my week. It's so fun :)
Psalms 147:3-5 3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. 4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. 5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
